Call of Duty, often abbreviated CoD, is a first-person shooter video game series developed by Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision. The first game in the series was released for PC in 2003, and the series has since expanded to consoles. Many spinoff games have also been released. Most of the games are set in historical periods, such as World War II and the Cold War, while the so-called Modern Warfare series is set in modern times, and Black ops 3 and Infinite Warfare are set in the future.
